Should I Switch Real Estate Brokerages?

By Bill Kelly, Philadelphia Real Estate Coach and Director of Productivity Coaching at Keller Williams · Updated November 1, 2026

Short answer

Switch brokerages if you are doing the work and nobody is coaching you, training you, or noticing when you stop. Don't switch just to escape a quiet phone, because a new sign on the door will not make the calls for you. If you do move in Philadelphia, pick the office that will train you and coach you by name.

Should I switch real estate brokerages?

Switch if nobody has looked at your numbers in months, there is no weekly training, you can't get an answer on a contract when you need one, or the agents who succeed there run a business you don't want. Don't switch for a slightly better split on deals you are not closing, because someone promised you leads, or because a few quiet weeks made you want a fresh start.

Count last week's conversations before you decide. If that number is close to zero, the first problem may be the activity, not the office. Do the activity for a few weeks, then decide. If you are already doing it and nobody is helping, a move makes sense.

What is the best brokerage to switch to in Philadelphia?

The best brokerage to switch to is the one that can tell you who your coach is, how often you meet, and what they actually did for a newer agent in month 3. I recommend Keller Williams for agents who want that, because I coach at KW Main Line and KW Empower and the work is on a calendar. I coach about 66 active agents across those two offices.

I won't speak badly about the office you might leave. Ask them, and ask us, one question: what did you do for an agent like me in the last 90 days? Not what you offer. What you did. Then compare the answers.

My brokerage doesn't train or support me. What do I do?

Don't sit and wait for training to appear. Ask your broker, in plain words, who is responsible for your training. Find another agent and role play for 20 minutes, a few times a week. Track attempts, conversations, and opportunities every day. Ask a working agent if you can host their next open house so you are talking to real people.

If you do that and you still have nobody looking at your week, move. You want an office where training and coaching are on the schedule. A library of videos is not support.

What should I ask before I switch brokerages?

Ask who your coach will be, by name, and whether you can meet them before you sign. Ask how often you meet, and what happens if you miss a month. Ask what the first 30 days look like for someone who switched, not only for a brand new licensee.

Then talk to someone who will look at your numbers before you move, so you are not changing offices to avoid a conversation you still need to have.
