My real estate brokerage won't train me. What do I do?

By Bill Kelly, Philadelphia Real Estate Coach and Director of Productivity Coaching at Keller Williams · Updated October 28, 2026

Short answer

If your brokerage won't train you, don't sit and wait. Find an agent to shadow, role play scripts with another new agent every week, and get someone to hold you accountable to your numbers. If that still doesn't happen, find a brokerage where training and coaching are on a calendar, not a promise.

What to do this week

  • Ask a top agent in your office if you can host their open house
  • Find another new agent and role play for 20 minutes, 3 times a week
  • Track attempts, conversations, and opportunities every day
  • Ask your broker directly: who is responsible for my training?

Training vs coaching

Training teaches you what to do. Coaching makes sure you do it. Plenty of brokerages have a video library and call it training. If nobody is checking in on your activity weekly, you have information, not support.

If you decide to move

Ask every brokerage who your coach is by name and how often you'll meet. My full checklist is at kwprocoaching.com/answers/how-to-pick-a-real-estate-brokerage.
